My informal visit to KPJ Specialist Centre in PERLIS was quite encouraging, as I saw the efforts made by a small private hospital to help the community of Perlis [the northernmost and smallest state in Malaysia].
They serve a limited population that can afford private healthcare, relieving the pressure on the one public hospital located less than a kilometre away.
This hospital has aided public healthcare facilities during the pandemic, as well as when there is overcrowding or a brief downtime in service facilities at the public hospital.
The Medical Director Dr Hari Ram Ramayya, obstetrician and gynaecologist, has been known to me for more than 20 years.
