Datuk Dr Kuljit Singh

Datuk Dr Kuljit Singh is a consultant ENT surgeon and medical director at Prince Court Medical Centre in Kuala Lumpur. He is President of the Association of Private Hospitals Malaysia (APHM) and of the Asian Hospital Federation.

He trained in ENT at Universiti Malaya under his mentor Tan Sri Dato Prof Dr Mohd Amin Jalaludin. He served the Malaysian Society of ORL–Head & Neck Surgeons as Hon. General Secretary for three terms and as President in 2006–07. In 2010 he founded Sinus Forum Asia, now the ENT Summit, which held its 17th edition in 2026.

In the Malaysian Medical Association he served as Wilayah branch chairman, Deputy Hon. Secretary and Hon. General Secretary (2013–14), and received the MMA Gold Medal in 2022. As APHM President since 2018 he has led the private hospital sector’s dialogue with government through the pandemic and beyond. He speaks regularly on healthcare financing, public–private partnership, patient safety and technology.

He has been a photographer since the age of 12, looks to motor sport for lessons in precision and safety, and lives by a simple motto: listen first, then answer.

The journey

From the ENT clinic to national healthcare policy

Every milestone comes from his own journal entries. Each new appointment, award or talk becomes a new point on the line.

  1. 1998

    ENT Master’s, Universiti Malaya

    Begins specialist training under his mentor Tan Sri Dato Prof Dr Mohd Amin Jalaludin. Completes a general surgery rotation at Hospital Kuala Lumpur in 1999–2000.

  2. 2003

    MMA Wilayah Branch Secretary

    Serves under the late Dato Dr Khoo Kah Lin, and later becomes his Deputy Hon. General Secretary at national level.

  3. 2004

    Organising Chairman, inaugural MMA Golf with HM the King

    Also organises an MMA wound-suturing CPD course for 50 GPs.

  4. 2006

    President, Malaysian Society of ORL–HNS

    Elected President for 2006–07 after three terms as Hon. General Secretary, one of the longest in the society’s history.

  5. 2010

    Founds Sinus Forum Asia, later the ENT Summit

    A conference built like a talk show, with live surgery, debates and instant Q&A. It later grows to include SIGMA and the NaviFESS cadaveric course (from 2016).

  6. 2012

    MSO-HNS Meritorious Award

    Recognised for his long-time contribution to ENT doctors in Malaysia.

  7. 2013–15

    Historian & Hon. General Secretary

    MSO-HNS 30-year history book launched (2013). Serves as Hon. General Secretary of MMA (2013–2014) and co-edits 55 Years MMA (2015).

  8. 2016

    Teaching the next generation

    Adjunct lecturer at Perdana University since its founding, and a regular speaker at the Houseman Survival Course.

  9. 2018

    President, Association of Private Hospitals Malaysia

    Represents Malaysia at the 42nd World Hospital Congress in Brisbane. Re-elected for 2020–21, leads APHM’s dialogue with government through the pandemic, and continues as President.

  10. 2022

    Gold Medal, Malaysian Medical Association

    Receives the MMA Gold Medal from MMA President Dr Muruga Raj, and chairs a session on patient experience at Hospital Management Asia in Bangkok.

  11. 2024

    President, Asian Hospital Federation

    Leads the federation of hospital associations from Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, the Philippines, Singapore, India and Malaysia. Receives the IHH Medical Excellence Award in Mumbai.

  12. 2025

    Thomas Materson ICON Award

    Honoured for his contributions to healthcare at the Global Health Asia Pacific Awards 2025, and chairs the Asian Hospital Federation board in Osaka.

  13. 2026

    17th ENT Summit, IFOS Istanbul & healthcare financing

    Opens the 17th ENT Summit, lectures on minimal sinus surgery at the IFOS World Congress in Istanbul, and joins the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries panel on healthcare financing.
