There was no MPS cover for government doctors until September 2006 during my term as Deputy Secretary of MMA. It was during the term of Datuk Dr Teoh Siang Chin, the President MMA then and SCHOMOS Chairman Dr Vasan [now Dato]. It was historic that government doctors had the opportunity to have an indemnity cover for the first time with the join collaboration of MMA and MPS. The package was launched by the then minister of health Dato Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek [now Tan Sri] at MMA house.
