Courtesy Visit to the Malaysian Medical Council [MMC]

26 December 2017:  Dato Dr Azmi bin Shapie, the CEO of Malaysian Medical Council [MMC] had granted me a short meeting with him at his office recently. I am meeting him after a few years since he retired from MOH. It was a great informal meeting to catch up on some of the recent issues on the new Medical Act which has been in-force since middle of the year.

Some of the issues that I had discussed were the National Specialist Register [NSR], the process of CME-CPD point system, Annual Practice Certificates-linking to CPD points and other related issues. We look forward for a good year ahead with some of these new features in the medical act. Its a matter of getting use to the new compulsory CPD points which will be linked to the APCs and NSR certification.

Some of these features are long over due and its good that some standards of professional development will now be compulsory.
