Sheraton Imperial Kuala Lumpur Hotel

Malaysia should strengthen engagement with Indian generic pharmaceutical manufacturers to improve affordability, access, and supply security.

Indian generics offer proven cost savings, enabling hospitals and patients to stretch limited healthcare budgets and increase treatment adherence. India’s large, diversified manufacturing base and many internationally certified producers can help reduce shortages and foster competition.

Strategic partnerships support technology transfer, local capacity building, and regulatory collaboration to ensure quality and safety. By implementing rigorous procurement standards, pharmacovigilance, and clinician education, Malaysia can responsibly adopt Indian generics, expand equitable care, and reinvest savings into public health priorities and innovation and strengthen regional economic ties.
