Spent the evening at a Mercedes F1 party with Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 Team drivers George Russell and Kimi Antonelli.

I also had the opportunity to take a photo with our host, Martin Schulz, President and CEO of Mercedes-Benz Malaysia.

The evening got me thinking about the parallels between automotive and healthcare safety. A collision warning is much like a medication-error alert: it helps people spot a risk before harm occurs. Airbags, like emergency procedures, help reduce harm when something does go wrong. Both depend on multiple layers of protection, regular checks and timely responses.

But safeguards alone are never enough. Healthcare professionals must use clinical judgment to navigate situations that vary from patient to patient—just as F1 drivers rely on judgment when negotiating a challenging track.
