Balancing universal healthcare access with commercial sustainability is challenging yet achievable when governments, healthcare providers, and private hospitals share responsibility. Effective healthcare systems integrate public funding, regulated markets, preventive care, and efficiency incentives to maintain both accessibility and financial viability. Evidence from multiple countries demonstrates that broad healthcare access and sustainable healthcare industries can coexist through coherent policy design and long-term investment.
However, sustainability cannot rely solely on compelling private hospitals to reduce prices through regulatory instruments while public healthcare systems remain inaccessible or insufficiently responsive to patients requiring urgent treatment.
