We are at cross roads. At one time there was a significant shortage of doctors and the need to increase numbers was on the agenda. Today we have achieved the numbers but we have compromised quality and training opportunities for these doctors. The equation went wrong. Public still waits for hours in govt clinics and weeks to months for procedures despite of large number of doctors.
The main issues now is to control the graduating numbers and retaining them in the service.
